Reflection of Affection

an Animated Short Film by

Annie Filali & Taylor Gandy

Building a World

The Rainforest

"

Here we have some initial lizard designs, with this process we wanted to explore the various body types, frills and spikes that lizards can be found with.

"

"

"

Once we narrowed down the features of our protagonist, we went through one more iteration that explored broader body styles

"

Once we were satisfied, we ended up picking parts and pieces from the various lizards and applying them to our final lizard design which ended up taking on spikes, and a more rounded snout.

"

"

Next we took our love struck lizard through several color passes to find what felt right, and how would he appear against the forest background

THE ART OF

"

I personally had a heavy part in the world building aspect of our film, each environment started off as a flat plane and was sculpted and loaded with various forest flora. To help guide the eye, I started with the largest element- the trees to block in the environment before laying out all sorts of grasses and flowers to compliment the scene.
